In the summer months our skin tends to perspire more which can lead to breakouts and overall congestion; the problem is not just the perspiration but if it is left on the skin for a long time;
Solution?
1] Cleanse thoroughly twice a day to remove sweat, sunscreen and pollution, including neck, chest and back which are also prone to breakouts. Make sure to remove cleanser with a clean soft flannel [ this part is a game changer as splashing your cleanser around with water does not remove dirt as thoroughly ]
2] Use a gentle exfoliant either on its own or mix with your cleanser to help unclog pores and keep skin cells looking fresh. Use at least 2 or 3 times a week and definitely take with you on holiday when you are likely to be reapplying sunscreen.
3] Use products containing niacinamide , a form of Vitamin B3, this ingredient is excellent at keeping moisture in our skin and reducing irritation.
4] Invest in a good lip balm; the heat can really dry out our lips so look for lip balms containing hyaluronic acid to help the lips retain moisture
5] Above all stay hydrated: Think layering when applying products on the skin;
e.g a hyaluronic serum will draw moisture up from the lower skin layers, applying a light moisturiser on top will lock in the serum. If you choose an SPF which has both niacinamide and hyaluronic you are in a win win! [ e.g Alumier MD Clear Shield SPF 42]
Hydration sprays/ mists are also great for in flight skincare.
Book in a facial 2 weeks after your holiday to keep that post holiday glow !
